    “Let them eat cake”–Marie Antoinette

Looking at my boutique or having experienced a treatment in the ”Bridal Suite” in my studio you know how inspired I am with everything French.  I couldn’t miss taking a picture of this Oh La La billboard in Vegas. I actually took this picture out of the sunroof while on our way to the next “It” lounge. It was such the perfect visual of this couple almost embracing in a passionate kiss right in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Las Vegas street sign in the bottom right hand corner.

As you can see I love to paint on bodies, to create, to challenge myself or to just be with my paint. My model Eva is beautiful with amazing features that I thought it would be interesting to see half of her face painted in a very obscure way. I didn’t have a main vision for this painting I wanted it to not be perfect or reflect a typical “beauty” shot.

I think we might have been a little insane this morning with a tee time at 7:31am on one of the coldest mornings of the year. Foxybox www.afoxybox.com and Fresh Beauty Studio were up on the tee box with hot chocolate and a caramel steamer in hand. We were wishing our hot beverages lasted longer since we couldn’t feel our hands until we rounded the sixth hole. I have to say it’s a little challenging trying to grip your club when you can’t feel your fingers. Despite the freezing wheather (notice our or should I say MY crazy golf pants) it was such a beautiful morning. Here’s to another amazing day on the green.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication-Leonardo Da Vinci

Trying to keep your daily makeup bag simple is a challenge, here is a look into my personal beauty bag must-haves.

    blog-001.jpg

    1. Susan Posnick Mineral Foundation-For a flawless coverage ColorFlo with SPF 26 will not clog pores or irritate sensitive skin. Available in 13 shades.

    2. Tint Cosmetics lip shine in Double Bubble-For those of you that have visited the boutique you know that I love Double Bubble gum so much that I have a jar of it on the front desk it’s such an American classic.

    3. Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black-This is the Dior Show mascara for the price conscious girl, it’s creamy and super black.

    4. Tarte cream blush in Blushing Bride-Give cheeks that healthy flushed just “worked out” look. It’s simple to apply and you can freshen up throughout the day.

    5. Tint crushed pearls for eyes in Bronze Glow-One of my favorite eye shadows; the best part about this product is that you can use it on your eyes, cheeks or lips.

    6. Visine-Need I say more?

    7. Nars Blush in Orgasm-I love love this blush it’s perfect for day or night and gives your cheeks a pop of color without giving you 1980’s cheeks.

    8. MAC lip pencil in Half-Red-Not too red and not too pink PERFECT.

    9. Anastasia brow gel in brown. Perfect brows are always in.

    10. G.M. Collin ceramides for extra hydration.

    11. MAC eyeliner in Coffee-Great for a more natural day look you can layer on black liner for cocktails.

    12. Diffuser Brush to give a wash of color on the eyes.

Body Painting is something I love to do! I am posting two pictures where I painted jeans on a model with her hand in her pocket; it’s all about fitting into your skinny jeans! The second model I was inspired by a puzzle theme using just black body paint and the “nude” color of her skin. I like to challenge myself with projects that are outside the box on an artistic level. I am always looking for new ideas and models. If you have an original idea and want to be part of the creative process as a model email the studio.

    Beauty Tips by Nikol

Our next Beauty Guru is Nikol Johnson of Fresh Beauty Studio in Florida. The best part about her tips is that you can head over to her website and pick us some of the products that they use on their own brides!

    * * *

As an Esthetician and multi media makeup artist I educate all my brides on the importance of skin maintenance…

    nikol

    1. Hydration-if your skin feels dry chances are it looks dry too. To infuse moisture into the skin I recommend a skin care line (no more than 3 products to start out with) that is specifically geared for your skin type. Don’t skimp when it comes to your face remember this is the first thing people look at besides your teeth so make a great impression. A great product line that we use in our treatment room is Sundariit’s an ayurvedic skin care line created by Christy Turlington. It’s a great product line for the beginner; it’s simple, natural and gives proven results.

    2. Kissable Lips-if your lips are dry and flaky it will show in pictures. You don’t want your lip gloss or lipstick to look dull in person or in pictures. You want plump, kissable lips for your new hubby. I recommend using a sugar scrub (we use Bella il Fiore an amazing peppermint lip scrub that exfoliates with sugar crystals and soothing sunflower and coconut oils) and a petroleum free eight hour cream a great pick that our brides love is Mama Mio’s eight hour cream.

    3.   Facials/Peels-I can not stress enough that this is a must for any bride. Keeping your pores clean and your skin hydrated with monthly to every 6 week facials is the ground work for truly picture perfect skin. Make an appointment with a Licensed Esthetician to go over your skin concerns, skin type and your goals before your wedding day. Peels are another great way to get a soft and glowing look and feel to your skin. I do not recommend harsh chemical peels keep it simple and don’t go over board with too many treatments. We treat our brides to a decadent chocolate cherry peel or cranberry peel both superficial/light but powerful enough to get a youthful look before the big day.

    4. Xtreme Lashes-For the bride who wants her lashes to last way beyond the ceremony Xtreme Lashesare a for sure “I Do”. Most of my brides come to me for this service when they want to keep that sexy eye for longer than just the big day. Xtreme Lashes last up to 2 months with proper care and are applied to each individual natural lash with surgical glue. I spent months perfecting my application style and receiving my certification. Remember to always go to a certified and licensed lash stylist.

    5. Waxing-The camera picks up everything having polished brows and a hairless lip should be on every brides to do list. Keep your brows clean with a natural shape to complement your bone structure. Don’t experiment with a new esthetician or take brow matters into your own hands, leave it to a professional with lots of referrals.

I couldn’t wait to work on this amazing wedding photo shoot. Our sister company A Pretty Event www.aprettyevent.com designed the theme of this beautiful wedding shoot. We were inspired by a modern beach feel but not using the typical colors that you would normally see at a beach wedding. Black, White and hot Pink was the color palette with Damask plates and custom favor boxes designed by Foxy Box www.afoxybox.com. We wanted to create a small intimate wedding with all the details of a posh event. These are a couple of the pictures my fabulous assistant took check back to see the real pictures from the cake to the bride and bridal party that our rock star photographer Lyall Aston www.lyallastonphoto.com took. table3.jpgtouch-up.jpgceremony.jpgtable.jpg

Our first wedding of 2009 was with this delightful couple Johanna and Eric. My makeup was inspired by the beauty of The Breakers Hotel www.thebreakers.com located right on the beach in Palm Beach, Florida. I took some amateur photos from the bridal suite we will be posting the amazing photos that Flash Photo & Video www.flashphotovideomj.com took that day. Johanna went for a very classic “Jessica Alba style” volume bun that gave her a very sleek but modern look. She had two dresses one for the wedding and one for the reception. We changed her hair for the reception by adding some orchids to enhance her romantic look. We kept her makeup clean, fresh and dewy. The bridal party wore candy apple red silk dresses that were gorgeous but we didn’t want the makeup to compete with the dress so we choose a bronze palette for the eyes and a nude lip. The flower girls were so precious with their red and white dresses on. My inspiration for the Fiji picture was because the Bride and Groom were off today to Fiji then to Bora Bora. Congratulations Johanna and Eric!
